As a senior member of the Design and Engineering team, the Senior Electrical Engineer will maintain oversight of the latest solar PV and BESS market technologies whilst being directly responsible for project electrical design scope from concept to construction as well as supporting the maintenance and operation of existing assets. The role requires a capable individual who can take responsibility for and supervise or delegate electrical design responsibilities if necessary.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Works closely with multiple stakeholder teams including engineering, design, commercial, planning and construction to optimise solar PV and BESS project designs

· Assumes design responsibility for solar PV and BESS project LV (AC & DC) scope from concept, through construction and to final acceptance; specifies and selects equipment, documents systems including:

o PV & BESS DC wiring, Protection, SCADA systems (e.g. IO signals, not networking), Earthing, LV AC auxiliary supplies/circuits/equipment, including UPS

· Manages and mentors junior engineers, delegating workload as necessary

· Prepares specifications, drawings, calculations and SLDs based on relevant standards

· Communicates directly with suppliers' technical / service support teams regarding product capabilities and reviews client enquiries, escalating as required to equipment manufacturers

· Reviews and assesses grid study, product compliance and earthing reports. On occasions may be required to review external MV cable specifications & calculations but not undertake detailed MV design

· Practical experience of manual (or Excel-based) calculations using electrical and/or power engineering basic principles (e.g. derating factors, voltage drop, discrimination etc) to specify cables and equipment

PREFERRED:

· Previous solar PV and/or BESS electrical system design experience; including inverter selection, PV array configuration, DC circuit designs / sizing, plant operation and/or optimisation (e.g. inverter reconfiguration), performance modelling, (e.g. PR calculations), SCADA and communication systems specification, however, engineers with strong experience in alternative industries / sectors will be considered
