Our Manchester Division is looking to recruit a Trainee Assistant Site Manager to join the Division’s Construction team. Good Foundations built with us This is a two year programme and from the start you will work on real projects at a live site gaining practical experience to undertake a series of vocational qualifications required for the role. It is combined with four residential one-week block periods of tuition per year at an industry leading college for your formal academic tuition: a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment. You will attend your block weeks with other Bellway Trainees from divisions throughout the business and participate in additional group workshops to build your managerial skills. You will also work towards a practical NVQ L3 qualification which is a site based assessment of your practical skills putting into practice what you have learned. The Role The role of Trainee Assistant Site Manager, reports to the Site Manager and Construction Manager and assists with the responsibility for managing all aspects of a construction development site, ensuring the provision of safe, efficient and cost effective works at all times, while maintaining the highest quality of work and customer service are delivered within the given timescales. Principal accountabilities of the role include: Assist with ensuring that Group/Regional Health & Safety procedures are strictly adhered to. Assist with delivery of all aspects of production requirements in strict accordance with relevant technical and planning documentation provided and any subsequent instructions that may be necessary from time to time. To conform fully to building regulations and warranty providers’ requirements (NHBC, LABC Services). Ensure that anything which is likely to affect the Company’s performance is notified to the Site Manager, Construction Manager and Construction Director or Regional Construction Manager immediately. Assist the Site Manager to ensure all Health & Safety, Environmental and Waste Management Policies are adhered to. Assist with ensuring that practical completions are formulated with sales requirements to ensure mutual compatibility. Assist with ensuring site security and good practice is maintained at all times. Build in accordance with relevant standards, Codes of Practice, Building Regulations and warranty requirements in force at the time. Fully co-operate with the Company’s Customer Care Policy. Ensure all site administration is carried out in accordance with divisional Head Office requirements. Experience, Qualifications and Skills Experience Experience of working in construction is desirable. Qualifications and Training GCSE Maths and English – Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) A-levels are desirable but not essential Apprenticeship – Level 2 Skills and Aptitude Effective communication and listening skills Good administration skills Works effectively to deadlines and competently works on multiple tasks simultaneously Ability to work on own as well as part of a team Good problem solving skills Self- confident and self- disciplined, with excellent time management skills. Ability to think outside the box, problem solve and remain calm under pressure whilst maintaining the highest of standards. Encourage and support people in the team, sharing knowledge and best practice. Proficient IT skills along with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) Committed to diversity and inclusion The Role and Working Conditions Willing to be flexible in respect to day to day duties and hours worked. Working outside in all weathers. Ability to travel to development sites, including the divisional office. Ability to attend residential (1 week blocks) every 8 weeks or as required.
