THE ROLE

I am seeking an ASSOCIATE GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER to join a firm of consulting engineers in their Redhill, Surrey.

You will lead project design teams and provide guidance as required on a project basis.

You will supervise and oversee the work of design team members including that of the senior engineers, engineers and graduates.

You will take responsibility for the project management, design, evaluation of geotechnical engineering solutions for shallow and deep foundations, retaining structures, slopes, earthworks, ground remediation / treatment of sites, in a range of ground conditions, in accordance with current UK Codes of Practice.

You should be able to develop client relationships, prepare fee bids, deal with all relevant documentation, coodinate and project manage as required etc.

THE COMPANY

Our client is a well established firm of consulting engineers.

They offer excellent ongoing training and CPD and good training towards becoming chartered for those that need it.

THE CANDIDATE

You will need to have a Degree in Civil Engineering / Geotechnical Engineering / Engineering Geology / Geology.

Ideally you may also have an MEng or MSc in Soil Mechanics, Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology or Civil Engineering.

You should ideally be chartered with ICE or Geological Society or similar and have ten years or more relevant experience gained with another firm of consulting engineers.

You will need to have extensive experience of British ground investigation, evaluation, design and construction methods and guidance e.g. Eurocode 7 and supporting documents, British standards, CIRIA, relevant ICE UK Specifications, Building Regulations, NHBC, Coal Authority, Environment Agency.

You should have current knowledge of the CDM Regulations.

You will need to be able to plan and manage other engineers and be able to mentor and development your team.

You should be able to give client presentations and you must have good commercial awareness and have a full understanding of professional risks, warranties and insurances.

You must have experience of geotechnical engineering deliverables in accordance with the latest RIBA Plan of Work and experience of the same for Highways and Railways projects.

A full UK driving licence is required.
