Kier Places are recruiting now for a Handyperson to join our team at the Berrywood Hospital in Northampton, supporting the delivery of FM Technical Services solution. Reporting to the Contract Manager, you will undertake reactive maintenance and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks within the hospital.
Key responsibilities
As our new Handyperson, you will carry out and assist with reactive and planned maintenance (PPM) activities in accordance with our quality management system including inspections & preparation for audits. This will include carrying out general, small repairs and carpentry works relating to building damage, along with quoted works, and project lifecycle works.
Working collaboratively with the on-site team, you will ensure Health & Safety policies are always adhered to, both with internal staff and external subcontractors, and to ensure a positive and effective team approach when delivering the contract requirements.
What do we need from you?
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar all-round general maintenance role conducting a variety of different tasks and knowledge of a broad range of craftsmanship and practical skills, with a keen eye for detail.
You will need to have outstanding communication skills and a proactive attitude, alongside some experience within the Building Services, Facilities Management or Property Services sector - previous experience in a hospital or healthcare environment would be a bonus. Water Hygiene/L8 Awareness training is preferable but not essential, as well as having the ability to conduct light plumbing repairs and general electrical replacements.
