There is an exciting opportunity to join Bellway, one of the UK’s largest house builders. Our London Partnerships Division is looking to recruit a Joint Venture Accountant to join the Division’s Finance team. The Role The role of the Joint Venture Accountant will report to the Divisional Finance Manager. The role involves taking ownership in the production of accurate and timely financial transactions and reports in addition to maintaining the business’s accounting records for the Joint Ventures entities. It will also involve providing support and direction to Finance Assistants. Our drive for sustainability, value and ever-changing building and environmental legislation means that innovative and unique solutions are required. Most of the employees employed within these teams have either an architectural or engineering background, and this role will offer the opportunity to gain expertise in design and project management. Principal accountabilities of the role include: Prepare monthly management accounts and reconciliations. Prepare monthly journals and account analysis and assist with financial year end and audit work. Prepare funding requests, cashflow, forecasting and attend JVs finance meeting. Prepare finance reports for inclusion in JV board pack. Ensure that Balance Sheet accounts are reconciled monthly and any risks highlighted to the Finance Manager. Invoice and maintain all management fees and shared costs. Prepare divisional reporting returns for JVs (VAT, CIS etc) for Finance Manager review and approval. Maintenance of KPI & analysis schedules as requested by Finance Manager. Maintenance of sales ledger including monthly sales reconciliation. Provision of support and direction to Finance Assistant(s) on daily workload. Initial point of contact for JVs Finance queries or problems, conduit for reporting and escalating issues to Finance Manager. Assist the Finance Manager to implement business process improvements. Provide cover for various duties within the department. Completing various returns and requests for information, as required. Experience, Qualifications and Skills Experience Experience of working with accountancy software. Working knowledge of COINS is desirable Experience working in a Joint Venture role is essential. Experience working for a housebuilder is desirable. Qualifications and Training Accounting/Finance HNC, HND or Degree Qualified accountant (ACCA,CIMA,CA or similar) Skills and Aptitude Good interpersonal skills. Excellent organisation and administration skills, including good attention to detail Ability to work on own as well as part of a team including Senior Management and Group functions Works effectively to deadlines and competently works on multiple tasks simultaneously Proficient IT skills along with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) and the ability to adapt to new systems Committed to diversity and inclusion The Role and Working Conditions Willing to be flexible in respect to day to day duties and hours worked Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week In return we can offer you: Competitive salary Annual bonus 25 days holiday, plus bank holidays Contributory pension scheme Life assurance We reserve the right to close this vacancy if a large volume of applications are received.
