Job Responsibilties:

Kier Construction are currently looking to recruit an Assistant Estimator to assist with managing tenders from inception to submission & post tender negotiations. As an Assistant Estimator within our Western and Wales region you will typically be working on tenders valued between £5m and £50m. A key part of this progressive role will be to work closely with the commercial team on early orders of subcontract packages, as well as implementing and controlling change management. Not only will you have a large variety of project values to get involved with, we operate on a variety of procurement routes, with the opportunity to work across a number of sectors including; Education, Health, High Rise Residential, Student Accommodation, and Commercial.

What do we need from you?

The ideal candidate for this role will be degree qualified in Quantity Surveying (or similar) and will be interested in becoming a key member of the work winning and pre contract project conversion team. Experience in bill production/take-offs, cost planning, control and risk mitigation would be advantageous.

Kier work within a broad spectrum of construction activities as stated above, therefore knowledge of the principals behind various forms of construction & procurement would be an advantage.

You will be part of team establishing and identifying the most appropriate design, method and cost for each subcontract or material package within each project. Your energy & drive will push the boundaries of any established client requirements to test and identify as many better ways of working, gaps and risks as possible. As you progress your knowledge and energy will help shape the function and form of the offers, we make to our clients.

You will be expected to be computer literate in Microsoft products, other software (including Estimating) training will be given where required.
