BRE is a £50m business providing a range of services in the built environment including innovation and research, advisory, testing, certification, and training. BRE has approximately 550 employees, with offices in the UK, Ireland and China.
BRE’s work in innovation includes the BRE Innovation Parks (our demonstrator and R&D test bed), significant R&D programmes (including the Construction Innovation Hub), the Constructing Excellence network, and our internal product innovation and knowledge generation services to the wider business.
This exciting new role will work across the range of the Innovation Team activities, engaging with external and internal market innovation and research, mapping activities and opportunities and supporting the whole business in being at the forefront of technological change.
How will I add value in this role? Providing support across all Innovation activities including our research, engagement, demonstration and product innovation, across modern methods of construction (MMC), digital construction, building safety, and other areas of interest in construction. Creation of Landscapes and Technology Roadmaps to identify and make sense of external innovation, science and research and translate these into actionable insights.
Engage externally and internally on innovation and science and support the development of collaborative partnerships with industry and academia. Identify research opportunities and support bid generation. Provide insights that support product innovation. Support the generation and dissemination of knowledge, both internally, and externally through thought leadership on innovation and science. What do I need in order to deliver this role? Good knowledge of the construction industry and in particular across key areas of innovation such as modern methods of construction (MMC), digital construction and building safety. Ideally experience of research or innovation, or a technical role that has required keeping up with the latest changes in industry. Inquisitive and analytical, able to engage with and make sense of complex change and translate these into insights. Able to take the initiative and work effectively in teams. Excellent engagement and communication skills, able to influence, constructively challenge and collaborate at all levels. Future focused, creative problem-solver who enjoys driving change. A degree in a relevant technical discipline.
