Kier Places are recruiting for an experienced Design Manager to join our passionate Capital Projects Team. With our diverse portfolio of projects, we are looking for an individual who has a passion for the project at hand, and securing work, whilst also being able to work as part of a closely knit team that has the opportunity to develop and control its own destiny.
AS Deisgn Manager you will be working on a portfolio of projects predominantly involving the recladding of high-rise buildings, with typical project values between £2M and £9M, and of a construction nature. You will be joining a newly formed team specialising in this new workstream which has huge long-term growth opportunity, in which successful applicants will have a huge opportunity to grow and develop as this new workstream evolves.
Key Responsibilities
As a Design Manager your role will be key to managing and coordinating the design at either pre-construction stage and / or construction stage of multiple projects.
You will be expected as Design Manager to lead internal and external design resources to ensure that design information is produced in a proper and timely manner; risks are identified, managed and appropriately apportioned; all designs by subcontractors and subconsultants are completed in a timely and co-ordinated manner, whilst also managing relationships with the Client and the appointed professional team.
What do we need from you as Design Manager?
Collaborative working with all external and internal stakeholders will be crucial, and successful applicants will need to demonstrate a sound general construction knowledge.
You will have experience motivating and encouraging internal and external design teams and multi-disciplinary design teams; be able to ensure drawings and designs are produced on time to a high quality, are easy to decipher, whilst overseeing the design process using technical expertise; and have a thorough understanding of the RIBA Stages of Design.
