Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate to join this exciting team will ensure consistency and coherency of all aspects relating to bids. You will need to design and develop bespoke cost and pricing models whilst also producing costings and financial analysis of service proposals. It will be imperative to provide support to operational and mobilisation teams when new contracts go live, to ensure correct interpretation of contractual obligations and payment structures. You will also ensure all opportunities for margin enhancement are recognised and chased, in turn it will be crucial to analyse risks and opportunities for board approval. Stakeholder management is a vital part of this role, you will need to maintain good working relationships with teams outside of Highways too, such as construction and engineering. Keeping an eye on live contracts will be critical, and you will need to provide operational feedback whilst also benchmarking tender data.

What do we need from you?
  • Previous experience within the Highways sector and/or similar role
  • A general understanding of local government
  • Ability to analyse data to inform/challenge solution development
  • Full understanding of Highways England and local government procurement processes (PFI experience welcome but not essential)
  • Financial, commercial and contractual awareness
  • An in-depth understanding of the principles of sustainability, partnership working, value for money and continuous improvement
  • Good knowledge of quality, environmental/health and safety management systems
  • Familiar with business planning and company goals
  • Clear ability to understand the customer's requirements
  • Valid UK drivers licence with the ability to drive
