Contracts & Compliance Officer job in Norwich

A new opportunity for a Compliance and Health & Safety professional to join an affordable housing provider operating throughout East Anglia on a fixed term contract basis as a Contracts and Compliance Officer until the end of 2021.

Based from offices in Norwich, the successful candidate will be responsible managing and monitoring internal and external contractors and services provided to ensure the assets of the business are maintained, adapted and improved to required standards and to deliver an efficient and effective Health and Safety inspection programme to ensure that the business complies with statutory requirements and legislation.

Role & Responsibilities

- Actively manage health and safety within area of work in accordance with Group policies and procedures and maintain compliance
- Actively promote the Group's commitment to effective health and safety management, by active and visible health and safety leadership with all stakeholders
- Oversee and undertake periodic health and safety inspections of communal areas and estates
- Ensure internal and external contractors are appointed and managed in accordance with Group policy and procedures
- Work with the in house property maintenance division to ensure the delivery of the repair service is in line with the service level agreement
- Ensure all asbestos identification and removal is undertaken with correct health and safety processes
- Receive requests for aids and adaptations and customer alterations and process efficiently in accordance with agreed policy and procedures
- Carry out property condition surveys & inspections and specify the most appropriate and suitable repairs required to maintain stock condition

Skills & Experience Required

- Experience in the management of contractors and operational/trade staff in the delivery of a first class customer focused maintenance service in the housing or private sector
- Working technical knowledge of the building maintenance environment evidenced with a recognised building trade / technical qualification, and commercial awareness
- Strong awareness of relevant Health & Safety legislation

A formal Health & Safety qualification would be advantageous, but not essential.
