Key Responsibilities

The Works Controller will review and accept reactive orders, ensuring consistency with the Highway Maintenance Operation Plan (HMOP) matrices, rejecting or amending any non-compliant requests with the relevant instigator whilst authorising compliant requests for efficient and cost-effective delivery. You will assess and suggest appropriate traffic management to protect the health, safety and wellbeing of the workforce and the general public. You will include requesting additional information or documents from commissioners as and when required (including for non-compliant work requests) It will be expected to manage and co-ordinate operational information across Suffolk highways, updating works commissioners when reactive works are subject to any significant delay.

What do we need from you?
  • Relevant Construction Skills/StreetWorks Supervisor certificate
  • National Highway Sector Scheme 12D M7; knowledge of basic practice of temporary traffic management
  • Working knowledge of programme delivery experience, ideally within local authority or construction/engineering sector
  • Awareness of highway infrastructure design function
  • Comfortable with resource allocation & cost management principles
  • Supervisory or management experience, including monitoring data and delivering KPIs
  • A good grasp of highway maintenance activities and of the Traffic Management Act
