Construction Planner

The Company & Opportunity:
Reputable and renowned construction company with head offices in The East Midlands, are looking for a Planner to work on construction projects ranging from £1m up to £13M. As the Project Planner, you will be expected guide the business in the project management software solution of choice, based on your strong experience in either MS Project or Asta Powerproject, ensuring projects are completed on-time, protecting the company with programme analysis to support any delays (contractual claims or mitigation measures).

The Role
The company is looking for a Planner with a good understanding of the fundamentals of construction from the ground up, handling projects simultaneously at different stages, whilst being accountable for construction & tender build programmes, reporting of programme delays, risks and resource planning.

Core skills and experience required in addition are:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a Project Planner on construction projects, utilising either Asta Powerproject or MS Project
  • Experience of construction projects - Housing, refurbs, higher education, further education, heritage etc.
  • Working on live projects and tenders
  • Knowledge of building contracts - JCT D&B and NEC 3/4, with relevant matters, extensions and delay notices.
  • Interpret 3D models & drawings
  • Report writing & data analysis
  • strong communicator who is able to 'push back' when needed to ensure delays and contractual implications are communicated correctly and dealt with effectively.
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Relevant education with project/ site management HNC qualification or equivalent.

Salary for the Project Planner position is negotiable (£45-55K dependent on experience), plus benefits including car allowance, pension, healthcare and flexible benefits.

The role can be either office-based, or work from home for part of the week, but you must be able to commute into the office and project sites, in the East Midlands, as and when needed.
