Kier Places are recruiting today for a Fabric Technician, where your role will be key to supporting the delivery of a Facilities Management Hard & Technical Services solution for our prestigious client, Wiltshire County Council, across a varied portfolio of 400 properties including schools, offices, warehouses, residential & commercial buildings.


Key Responsibilities

The role of Fabric Technician with Kier will include general building maintenance & fault-finding duties such as low-level lamp changing, minor joinery repairs, minor plumbing repairs, repair to sanity ware, drainage above and below ground, building furniture, carpentry, tiling, flooring, minor roof repairs, and daily inspections.

You will also be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance, reactive callouts, and minor installation works on building fabric; actioning & reporting any defect or breakdown to the Helpdesk; check M&E systems to ensure building services are functioning correctly; investigate any alarms and action as necessary.

Just as importantly, you will need to maintain up to date records of all work carried out; comply with company safety rules and maintain a high standard of discipline; continually demonstrate an understanding and commitment to customer care; and proactively review outstanding work & action any issues arising regarding maintenance defects generated from the helpdesk.


What do we need from you?

The ideal Fabric Technician will have previous experience in a similar general property/building maintenance role, ideally within the Facilities Management industry, and a have relevant property/building maintenance qualification such as Level 2 Plumbing, Carpentry, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. As a bonus, but not essential, you may hold a CSCS card, Working At Height, IPAF or PASMA certification

Due to the nature of this role & contract portfolio, you should have a full driving licence, be prepared to conduct regular travel across the county day-to-day, be able to participate within an out of hours emergency call out rota, and be flexible outside of core working hours.
