Due to an influx in work, our established garden maintenance client now requires a Garden Maintenance Operative to work in East London on both the commercial and residential sectors. To be considered you must have experience working in garden maintenance. The role offers a salary of up to £28k + Mileage + Company Vehicle.
They have a broad customer base and have worked on major projects including universities and large residential properties. Currently a team of 15, they offer an inclusive and encouraging work environment and have many positive client testimonials from the big company names they have worked with.
Role & Responsibilities
- Ensure clients expectations are exceeded
- Varied range of gardening duties
- Maintenance and improvement responsibilities (e.g. soil cultivation, lawn maintenance, digging, forking, mulching, hedge reductions, bed preparation/planting)
- Using a wide range of hand tools
- Ability to assess a clients' property
- Report strange conditions to the shift supervisor
- Ensure tools are used safely and kept in good working order
- Assisting with garden construction
- Application of Health and Safety Legislation
- Care for assigned vehicle
- Using natural methods for plant protection and pest control (chemicals/pesticides where necessary)
- Complete site checklists/take photographs of work daily to record work completed
- Assisting in marketing tasks (e.g. handing out flyers)
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years' experience in residential / commercial garden maintenance
- Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in garden maintenance operations is essential
- Knowledge of standard horticultural practices
- Full UK clean driving license is essential
- Experience driving vans is essential
- Must be within commutable distance to East London
- RHS NVQ Level 2 Horticulture is desirable
What you get back
- Salary of £23,000 - £28,000
- 28 days annual leave including bank holidays (Opportunity to buy an additional 5 days' holiday)
- Hours as follows: High season 7:30am - 4:30pm Monday to Thursday & 7:30am to 3:30pm Friday
Low season 8am - 3pm Monday to Friday - Flexible working hours available
