Assistant Building Surveyor Job in Orpington
Assistant Building Surveyor required for an established multidisciplinary construction consultancy based in Orpington. If you have some practical work experience working for either a consultancy, private practice, or contractor then we want to hear from you. The role offers support with APC pathway plus a comprehensive benefits package.
The consultancy covers a wide range of projects to include education, residential, healthcare, retail, and mixed-use. They provide a service to both private and public sector clients across architecture, building and quantity surveying, project management, and M&E. They have multiple offices and approximately 300 employees.
Role & Responsibilities
- Taking client instructions
- Surveying and reporting on residential, commercial and education projects
- Undertaking lead consultant roles for refurbishment and new build projects for public and private clients
- Briefing clients, design, co-ordinating consultants, specifying, cost advice, tendering, drafting contractual documents, and contract administration
- Liaise with clients, chair meetings, presentations, resident meetings, and the like
- There may be a requirement to attend out of hours meetings from time to time e.g. resident and leaseholder stakeholder meetings
- JCT contracts (both Contract Administration and Employer's Agent roles) and building pathology / defects diagnosis
- Party Wall Surveying
- Use of AutoCAD
Required Skills & Experience
- Preferably 1 year in Building Surveying
- Consultancy / Private Practice / Contractor experience
- RICS Accredited Degree
- Experienced in liaising with clients
- Knowledge of JCT contracts
- Experienced in writing professionally written reports
- Ability to prioritise several tasks at one time
- Access to own vehicle and driving licence essential to drive to sites
