Our client is urgently seeking to recruit and experienced Centre Lathe Turner at their Grimsby premises. This position is to start as soon as possible and is ongoing, potentially leading to a permanent position for the right candidate.
The work is varied and not high precision. You will need experience in producing machined parts and custom fabrications in a wide range of materials such as ferrous and non ferrous metals, sheet steel, all types of plastics, ceramics, ferrodo materials and rubber. Other machining skills are an advantage but not essential.
Skills and Qualifications:
* Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings
* Ability to use manual turning lathe
* Knowledge of industrial machining techniques
* Ability to use measuring equipment for quality control checks
* Knowledge of mechanical maintenance, practises, and procedures for machine tools
Strong manual skills
* Reliability, precision, and attention to detail
* Ability to work with minimal supervision and to follow instructions
* Flexible approach to hours
* Responsibilities and Tasks:
* Selecting the cutting tools for machining operations
* Mounting and dismounting workpieces on/from lathe
* Performing roughing and finishing operations
* Checking finished pieces to ensure compliance
* Carrying out maintenance of turning lathe and tools
* Cleaning turning lathe and work area, eg. Removing swarf/chips
