Head of Design Job in New Milton, Hampshire

New opportunity for a Head of Design position with an expanding Design and Build firm based in New Milton, Hampshire. This is a creative position that will see you involved in a range of commercial projects up to 50,000sqft, leading a small team of designers from graduates to seniors. The role will be mostly based from their office in New Milton.

Established in 2008, the practice operates under a number of divisions and have gone from strength to strength over the years. This is a creative design role within the design & build sector. The successful candidate will have a background working in the design & build sector and be able to take a hands-on approach to working with their clients to create and deliver a wide range of contemporary workplace projects across London and the South.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Produce project deliverables across all stages from concept through to completion
  • Produce and oversee/red-pen technical drawings, both 2D and 3D
  • Oversee project timeframes and ensure deadlines are achieved
  • Attend/lead client briefs with senior members of the team
  • To understand and work within the company's design standards and required specifications
  • Attend site visits/sub-contractor meetings alongside other members of the team
  • Develop and deliver client pitch presentations

Required Skills & Experience

  • Degree qualified in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or Architecture - desirable, not essential
  • 8+ years of experience working within the Design & Build sector
  • Proven experience delivering projects and working across all stages
  • Good understanding of relevant building regulations and industry standards
  • Strong knowledge of FF&E and suppliers
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of project price-points
  • Experience managing a team
  • Competent using AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe CS, and MS Office
  • Full UK Driving Licence and access to own vehicle
