Heart of Wales Property Services (HoWPS) is a 50:50 joint venture partnership between Powys County Council and Kier, a leading property, residential, construction and services group. Our partnership began on 3 July 2017 and we are responsible for the repairs and maintenance work to council homes and public buildings across Powys. A consultancy service is also provided, which delivers Powys County Council's major capital investment programme, small works projects and a design and build service. Employing approximately 150 people locally we are headquartered in Llandrindod Wells, and also have teams based in Newtown and Brecon.

Kier Places & Heart of Wales Property Services are recruiting now for an Electrician to join our Mid-Powys Corporate Team, where your role will be key to supporting the delivery of a Facilities Management repair & servicing solution, through providing planned & reactive maintenance with an Electrical bias in commercial properties, offices & schools managed by the council.


Key Responsibilities

As a focused Electrician, we will look to you to carry out electrical PPM (pre-planned maintenance), reactive repairs, remedial works, small installations, testing of existing installations, fault finding, diagnostic work, and completion of relevant electrical certificates.

You will also be responsible for carrying out surveys and complete reports as required by management, and ensuring that all technical and compliance paperwork is completed and up to date.

This will involve completing works of Electrical nature, e.g., lighting and power installation works, re-lamping of fittings and general repair, socket replacement and other repairs or installations, as well as testing and certification of all works in accordance with NICEIC regulations. You will be trusted in assisting in ensuring HOWPS & Kier deliver a safe, customer focused, cost effective, efficient and compliant service in order to meet its contractual and legal obligations.


What do we need from you?

We're looking for an experienced Qualified Electrician (e.g., Level 3 City & Guilds/NVQ) with 18th Edition Wiring, Inspect & Test (2391), and has experience in a similar property services role. As a bonus, you may have PASMA, Working At Height, IPAF certification, and L8 Legionella awareness.

Due to the nature of this position, you should have a full UK driving licence, be happy travelling across the county to different sites, and be able to participate in the on-call rota system covering out of hours and weekends.
