Location: Hendon, NW9

Business Area: Kier Facilities Management - Ministry of Justice & Home Office contract

Contract: Permanent, full time - 12-hour shift rota 4 on 4 off basis of 4 days (between 6am and 6pm) worked, and 4 nights (6pm to 6am)

Kier Places are recruiting today for a Shift Technician, where your role will be key to supporting the delivery of a Facilities Management Hard Technical Services solution for our prestigious client, the Home Office, where you will organise, plan and carry out schedule of works required to the manufacturer's specifications.


Key Responsibilities

As a focused and reactive Shift Technician, you will deliver a combination of electrical, mechanical, and building fabric Planned, Reactive and extra works engineering services, across a region to multiple client office buildings & sites. You will be assisting in ensuring Kier deliver a safe, customer focused, cost effective, efficient and compliant service in order to meet its contractual and legal obligations

This will involve completing works such as tap testing, flushing & fixing, legionella tests, pump/compressor fault diagnosis, assessing plant equipment, assisting with HVAC/air conditioning maintenance and general PPM duties.


This is a Shift position for 12-hours per shift, with 4 days on/off 4 nights on/off with standby & call-out.

As there is standby & call-out required, you should be within a 20-minute journey of the NW9 postcode. You should also be prepared to go through a Government SC Clearance before working onsite.


What are we looking for?

The successful Shift Technician for this role should be competent in general maintenance works, with a multi-skilled background or bias towards electrical trades with relevant qualifications (e.g. City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3).

Whilst not essential, it would be a benefit if you have F-Gas qualifications, 18th Edition Wiring, and have L8 Legionella awareness.

It's worth remembering that if you are successful, we'll undertake the relevant / standard pre-employment checks after you have been offered a job. Due to the nature of this role, you will also be required to complete a Government Security Check Clearance which can take multiple months to complete, and you won't be able to start onsite without completion.
