Commercial Manager - Breedon Full time South Scotland

Due to an internal promotion, we have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Manager to join our GB Contracting business, based in South Scotland.

Based primarily in our Uddingston Office (Hybrid working available), you will oversee day-to-day management of the estimating team. With your leadership, guidance & direction you will ensure that objectives and targets are achieved leading to the overall delivery of the Commercial Strategy, including the submission of robust competitive tenders considering business capability, capacity, financial, technical & contractual risk.

Key Responsibilities:?

    Contribute to the development and the effective delivery of the business unit commercial strategy.

    Take a lead role in identifying and securing a pipeline of commercial opportunities to secure a long-term work bank

    Ensure that quality, competitive tenders are submitted, and key targeted contracts are won, considering business capacity, margins, financial and contractual risks.

    Undertake pre-contract commercial reviews with the operations and QS teams to identify opportunities and risk within proposed future contracts.

    Manage the production and submission of all tender information relating to commercial functions, including external commercial consultancy resources.

    Encourage and promote the use of alternative sustainable internal materials.

    Manage and develop beneficial commercial relationships with new and existing customers/clients to develop and expand market share in line with the national commercial strategy.

    Ensure policies and procedures including health and safety requirements are fully compliant with legislation, and changes are effectively communicated.

    Coach, lead, manage and develop a motivated Commercial team to achieve the Company's objectives

What will you bring?

    Educated to degree level and/or with relevant work experience and training.

    Experience in the Causeway preferred, but not essential.

    An understanding of the U.K. construction market with a particular focus around road construction.

    A driven yet measured personality, with the ability to work autonomously to shape/build ideas from conception through to reality and delivery.

    Proven relationship management skills to ensure we deliver market leading customer service.

    Commercially aware, a shrewd negotiator with an eye for an opportunity.

    Strong organization, administrative and presentation skills (electronic & in-person)

    Solid communication and influencing skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships across a full spectrum of customers and people, both inside and outside of the business.
