Job Title: Senior Design Engineer
Location: Ipswich, Suffolk
We are Kier, one of the UK's leading construction and infrastructure services, working on projects such as HS2 and we're looking for a Senior Design Engineer to join our Highways team in Ipswich.
Key Responsibilities
Lead a team of people to carry out investigations, feasibility, preliminary and detailed design for various highway improvement and maintenance schemes for internal and external works commissioners, including 'ECI' engagement with Infrastructure Operations and the co-ordination of supply chain partners delivering highways projects.
Improvement schemes will range from footway improvements, new road signs, traffic regulation order schemes through to roundabout designs, junction improvements and public realm improvements, integrated with resolution of pre-existing maintenance needs. Maintenance schemes can be for any aspect of hard landscaping and will include the management and scheduling of road closure requests for reactive, minor planned and general maintenance works. Act as a CDM Principal Engineer for schemes when required.
We are seeking candidates who:
- Hold a HNC/HND, foundation degree, degree or diploma qualified (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or significant relevant experience in the design of highway maintenance and improvement schemes
- Professional membership of CIHT, IHE, ICE.
- Lantra 12d Traffic Management design qualification or demonstrable equivalent experience
- Proven experience of successfully delivering a range of complex projects in highways engineering, highways design or similar technical disciplines
