Summary

As Group Planner you will report to the Senior Group Planning Manager and be responsible for attaining planning permission on new sites for development to help meet or exceed Gleeson Homes forecast requirements for site opening and acquisitions.

The role is based at our Head Office in Sheffield, but workload will cover all regions of the business.

The role could suit those already working in a similar position, or those currently working in a consultancy setting wanting to explore the developer/client side.

Main Responsibilities

  • To lodge and thereafter manage residential planning applications for new developments throughout the business.
  • To instruct and coordinate relevant discipline specialists in respect of technical and planning reports to accompany planning submissions.
  • To interact directly with Local Authorities and their consultees with regards to the satisfactory resolution of planning objections and comments.
  • To negotiate S106 and planning gain requirements.
  • To attend and present at planning committee as required.
  • To attend public consultation events as required.
  • To attend and represent the company at Planning Appeals as required.
  • To lodge and manage other planning applications as may be required, including "S73 condition variation/removal" and condition discharge.
  • To assist the Group Land and Planning function in other matters on an ad hoc basis, including:
o Assisting with land sourcing and procurement.

o Responding to relevant planning policy/Government consultation documents.

  • As appropriate to work with and/or assist other Departments and/or colleagues in respect of the same above matters.
  • As appropriate to research and attend seminars, conferences and events to keep fully informed of the current and key issues affecting planning matters.

Ideal Candidate

  • Experience as a Planner or Planning Co-Ordinator within a high-volume housebuilding company or consultancy setting.
  • Hold a valid driving license (essential)
  • Ideally educated to degree level in a relevant discipline or RTPI, but not essential.
  • Overview knowledge of national and local planning policy and guidance.
  • An understanding of the land acquisition process is desirable but not essential.
  • Commercially astute.
  • Good communication and negotiation skills.
  • Team player.
  • IT Literate (Microsoft Office).
  • A user of AutoCAD is desirable but not essential.
