Breedon is a leading constructions materials group in Great Britain and Ireland, with around 1 billion tonnes of mineral Reserves and Resources. Breedon has a strong growth strategy having significantly expanded in 2020/21 with the acquisition of the Cemex assets, delivering an additional 170 million tonnes.

We are seeking a Carrier Manager to join our team based at Breedon on the Hill, Derby.

Reporting to the Logistics Manager, the key responsibilities of this role will be to:

  • Plan, manage and evaluate internal transfers operations liaising with stakeholders, logistics providers and transportation companies
  • Create and implement best practice logistics principles processes across the internal transfers organisation to improve operational and financial performance
  • Deliver solutions to logistics problems while maintaining high levels of quality and service within budgetary requirements
  • Review carrier accounts to ensure best rates
  • Recommend optimal transport models, routes, or frequency
  • Select carriers/suppliers and monitor service against performance criteria

  • Excellent attention to detail skills
    • Prior experience of working in logistics/supply chain/transportation function and a comprehensive knowledge of logistics processes and procedures
    • Experience in carrier/account management
  • Expert knowledge of technical regulations related to Logistics
  • Strong IT systems knowledge and skills including knowledge and understanding of specialist systems.
  • Advanced Excel user
