We are Kier, one of the UK's leading construction and infrastructure services, amongst other we are working on a BT Contract, and we're looking for Civils Operative to join our Telecoms team in Basingstoke.
We are now recruiting for a Civils Operative to join our Telecoms team in Basingstoke.
What you'll be doing:
Working as part of a two-person team to undertake excavation, backfill, and reinstatement, in accordance with Kier's & our Clients Standard Operating Procedures.
You will be required to ensure that all work is completed to a High Standard and within a timely and professional manner, while always maintaining professional relationships with both internal and external customers, while working in the highway and customer property including excavation, backfill, hot/cold-lay reinstatement, box building and duct laying along with rod rope and cabling activities, and traffic management set-up.
In this role you will be excavating in the highways and complying with NRSWA Code of Practice 1991 and HSG47, installing new duct work and chambers, Clearing blockages, Rod, Rope and Testing. Work in compliance with Specification for Reinstatement of Openings in Highways (SROH) and perform out of hour's emergency restoration works (evenings and weekends). You will complete and submit all necessary documentation, including timesheets within the time limits set out by your Management team and manage your daily work through the company issue mobile device, ensuring the process is followed through to completion of the job task, before leaving the tasks location.
You will ensure excellent working relations are established and maintained with key interfacing areas and support functions. You will also maintain all company issue Uniform/PPE, Vehicle and Equipment ensuring all remain in good condition, so to ensure efficient working practices are adhered to, while promoting the Company Brand, ensure that you set the standard in completing and ensuring all necessary Compliance documentation is adhered to, i.e. Safety & Quality - (Self-Audit & POWRA) and ensure you deliver on the targets set - Daily Productivity and Monthly KPI targets. You will also carry out any other reasonable activities, tasks or duties as may be required to meet the ongoing or changing needs of the business.
We are seeking candidates who have:
Essential:
- Previous BT or VM network build experience,
- Full UK driving licence
- NRSWA Street works Operative units 1 to 9 including the Open reach Civils accreditation modules.
- You will also have experience with risk assessment and hazard identification and a strong focus on Health and Safety practices.
- You will have strong communication skills, and a strong customer service focus.
- You will be able to work unsupervised using their own initiative and be competent in the use of Civils equipment (mini digger, disc cutter, floor saws etc ).
Desirable: - CSCS/EUSR Card
- BT Accredited/(NOPS) Network Operative Passport Scheme
- PIA Modules - S2, S5, S6, S7, S8, CD1, G01, G02, DB1
