Graduate Planner

Full-time, permanent position

This is an exciting and unique opportunity to join the Planning Department of the Blenheim Group, which includes the Blenheim Estate, Vanbrugh Unit Trust, Pye Homes, and Blenheim Strategic Partners.

The Blenheim Group of businesses covers everything from a World Heritage Site and visitor attraction welcoming a million guests a year to the Grade 1 Listed Palace, Park and Gardens, through to a bottled water business and a wide range of real estate businesses, including BSP, a strategic land and planning business, Pye Homes a regional housebuilder and the Blenheim Estate/Vanbrugh Unit Trust, being the core real estate investment and development portfolio of the Blenheim Estate.

Reporting to the Head of Planning, the Graduate Planner will focus on planning delivery to support Pye Homes, alongside supporting the wide-ranging planning needs of the whole Group - these range from strategic land promotion through to gaining consent for the installation of a piece of world-leading artwork in the Grade 1 Listed Park.

This position offers a uniquely diverse opportunity for a recent graduate to develop and grow personally and professionally across a wide range of businesses, whilst playing an important role in an exciting, expanding real estate team.

Role responsibilities:

  • Assessing and evaluating planning policy and guidance;
  • Identifying site opportunities and constraints;
  • Preparing planning appraisals;
  • Assisting in promoting sites through the Development Plan process;
  • Drafting planning applications and co-ordinating a consultant team to compile documents required to support planning applications;
  • Attending meetings with Councils and other stakeholders to progress applications through the planning process;
  • Attending occasional public meetings such as with Parish Councils, Planning Committees and other bodies as appropriate;
  • The role will also require liaising with colleagues in the Land, Technical, Property, Construction and Commercial departments in relation to development matters across the Blenheim Group businesses.

What we are looking for:

  • A recently completed RTPI accredited planning degree
  • Excellent written, interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Proactive approach to working, with the ability to deliver all tasks with motivation and enthusiasm
  • A full UK driving licence is essential as the role will involve driving to meetings as well as conducting site visits
