We are Kier, one of the UK's leading construction and infrastructure services, working on projects such as Local and Strategic Highways.

We are now recruiting for a Highways Maintenance Operative to join our Highways team in Whitley to carry out highways maintenance duties as instructed, this will include winter maintenance when appropriate.

What you'll be doing:

You will respond promptly to incidents on the network as instructed. It will be imperative to work in close cooperation with team members and subcontractors, contributing to the maintenance of a safe and healthy working environment. Carry out collective and personal RA's in accordance with company requirements. Contribute to the promotion of customer care by working closely with team members to ensure client and network users are dealt with in a polite and courteous manner. You will liaise directly with the Site Supervisor, Network HUB and stakeholders where required.

It is crucial you can operate a variety of plant and equipment in order to carry out required duties effectively. Assist with ensuring that site and company equipment is always secure. Raise problems/queries with the designated supervisor. Use of CONFIRM application to accurately record site works and upload photographic evidence. Complete daily record sheets as required and retain records. Carry out daily defect reports on vehicles and ensure vehicles are maintained in good order. Actively promote Health and Safety in the workplace. When required, you will contribute to weekend, bank holiday working and out of hours/call out rosters.

We are seeking candidates who:

  • 12ab Lantra traffic management trained
  • Basic Lantra VRS qualification
  • LGV driving licence (Group C minimum)
  • Asset Management Awareness - operational level required
  • Experience and knowledge of strict Health & Safety operations and the related practical implications
  • Ability to work using own initiative and as part of a team
  • Valid CSCS card
