Kier Utilities is looking to recruit a Ganger who will be depot based, supervising and participating in a 2 man gang. Ensuring safety of site, self and colleagues, quality of work and production. With a focus on reactive and maintenance work on the Western Power Distribution network.

Responsibilities:-

  • General site supervision, including completion of all records as required.
  • All Health and Safety issues on site, completion of records.
  • Communicating with the Supervisor and other colleagues to monitor progress and inform of problems.
  • To ensure all work complies with relevant Safety, Health and Environmental legislation and that recycling takes place whenever possible.
  • To ensure proper use of plant and materials, keeping wastage to a minimum.
  • To carry out and complete excavation and cable laying work on the WPD network as directed.
  • Carry out on the job training of team members where necessary.
  • Any other suitable duty requested of you.
  • Work flexibly and carry out any suitable duty requested of you.
  • Represent Kier in a professional manner in both appearance and attitude
  • Be punctual and available for work at the agreed times.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

Essential:

  • NRSWA Operative
  • Cat & Genny Trained
  • UK driving licence
  • Network experience
  • Able to use an electronic device for recording work details
  • Committed
  • Hardworking
  • Reliable
  • Punctual
  • To be a good communicator
  • To be a good self-organiser
  • Self motivating
  • Generally to be willing, helpful, enthusiastic and flexible.
  • To be able to work as part of a TEAM
  • Most of all be safe.
Desirable:

  • Have reasonable written and numerical skills
  • Cable laying experience
  • Sub Station experience
  • 360 mini excavator /dumper.
