Quality Assurance Manager - Breedon Group
Reporting directly into the Logistics & Supply chain manager, the Quality Assurance Manager will be responsible for the management and control of our Quality assurance systems for all Cementitious materials purchased from a third party (imported and domestic), imported bagged product and packed products through a 3rd party.
The successful candidate will be expected to maintain systems for certification of product, monitoring of production control and product quality, to comply with company policy and customers' expectations along with Environmental and Health and Safety Standards.
Role Responsibilities
- Establish close and collaborative relationships internally and externally to ensure we are working with the best in the business.
- Build relationships with key business stakeholders and suppliers to drive value around the strategic objectives of the business.
- Managing sub-contractor laboratories and 3rd party resources to ensure services are compliant and meet expectations.
- Maintaining legal compliance on 3rd party packed products.
- To maintain and further improve the Health, safety and Environmental aspects within the remit of this role.
- To check that the Cementitious materials and end product itself conform with general and specific standards
- To ensure that the end products conform with the standards (EN, ISO, etc) following Key quality indicators and customer needs
- To support the operation of a Quality Management System.
- To initiate actions to prevent product non-conformity.
- To carry out root cause analysis where quality system non-conformities arise.
- To implement rapid and effective corrective actions for non-conformities in the quality system.
- To devise and implement preventative actions to prevent issues from recurring.
- To carry out quality risk assessments for the management of change in products and processes.
- To ensure that the sampling, measuring and analysis procedures are adequate and respected
- To ensure prompt production of routine Quality Data as required by the Sales function and Customers.
- To promote the quality of the work and motivate personnel, develop their skills to keep abreast of technical developments
- To manage quality related projects to carry out improvements and standardisation. Co-ordinates certification procedures (ISO9001 & EN197)
- To study product quality problems and initiate necessary adjustments
- To liaise with the technical sales force and their customers in case of quality claims
Role-Specific Skills/Knowledge:
- Educated to degree level and have significant experience in either cement or construction material supply industry.
- Detail orientated and analytical, to be able to navigate complex data sets and contractual agreements
- Strong collaborator
- Excellent communicator, verbal and written
- Highly skilled in commercial negotiation based on a wider understanding of business impacts
- Genuine and honest in your approach and always strive to assume a positive can-do attitude; understanding where others are coming from without allowing your own opinion or experiences to overshadow perspectives.
- A self-starter who can autonomously time manage, prioritise, produce, and provide visibility to key outcomes.
- Able to execute tasks to the best of your ability/experience working with your fellow colleagues.
- Evidence of influencing and driving continuous improvement
- Learning from and working with other disciplines to deliver outstanding outcomes internally and externally.
- DESIRABLE: An understanding of the fundamentals of the manufacturing process impacts and wider implications of quality related decision making.
The successful candidate will have proven Quality Assurance management experience, being able to successfully establish close networks with both internal and external customers.
The role will be required to work within a budgeted framework to identify and implement best value solutions for all relevant requirements of the Organisation.
The successful individual will have an excellent technical knowledge of Cement, GGBS and how those products add value to our customers product. The individual will have strong relationship building skills and be an excellent communicator.
You will ensure that Breedon's imported cementitious products and bagged products meet and exceed the customers QA requirements.
