Job Title: Senior Engineer

Location: Flexible working available, where you will be based out of our Birmingham office with home working available and some travel to other offices and sites

Kier Highways undertake a very wide variety of roles and activities and a Senior Engineer is required that is a specialist in at least one of the following fields: Highway and Geometric Design, Signs, Road Markings and Lining Design, Traffic Safety Engineering and Road Safety Audits, Pavement Design and Asset Management, VRS Design and Drainage Design.

Successful candidates will have a particular specialism but will also have a robust overall knowledge of the Highway Design field.

Key Responsibilities

As Senior Engineer the main purpose of this role is to deliver designs that are buildable and sustainable. Preparing and overseeing designs in relation to your field of expertise as directed and preparation and checking of technical reports. You will also manage a small team of Engineers to deliver projects in accordance with the clients' brief.

What do we need from you?

  • Considerable experience in the detailed design of highway related projects
  • Degree in Civil Engineering and professional membership of the ICE/CIHT or similar or working towards professional status
  • Knowledge of highways' assets and the appropriate solutions for renewals or improvements.
  • A thorough knowledge of National Highways Design Manuals and Specifications
  • Experience using quality, environmental and health and safety legislation and management systems, particularly CDM 2015
  • Project and programme management, with ability to use MS Project advantageous. Knowledge of MS Word & Excel essential
  • Knowledge and experience in using any of the relevant design software: AutoCAD/Civils 3D/MX etc. and understanding of principles of BIM process
