We are Kier, one of the UK's leading construction and infrastructure services, working on projects such as BT Falcon, BT ONSA and we're looking for a Cabling Operative to join our Telecoms team.?

Recently appointed as an Openreach core partner, this exciting opportunity will see us providing multi-million pound planned and reactive fibre and copper network services across Hampshire and Berkshire.


About the role as Fibre Cabler

You will be responsible for installing the core cables that connect our towns, villages, and cities via the Openreach underground and overhead network. Working with a Direct Labour supervisor, you will be required to perform your activities accurately and within deadlines assisting the business to meet their weekly completion targets for the fibre build expectations of our customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out all pre pulling/blowing tasks as directed by the Project Manager working on the Openreach network.
  • Ensure full compliance with NRSWA Regulations, along with Health, Safety & Environment guidance.
  • Overcoming obstacles and working with other teams to ensure our projects are completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all necessary Compliance documentation is adhered to, i.e., Safety & Quality - (Self-Audit & POWRA)

What we need from you

  • Hold a full UK driving licence for at least 12 months with no more than 6 points on your licence
  • Hold or have held a valid NRSWA street works Operative unit 2 card.
  • Experience working with job packs, duct diagrams and works instructions.
  • Have experience working onOpenreach's Network and have held the followingOpenreachaccreditations:
    • N23 or N26 One Fibre Network Build
    • K8 Test Rod and Rope
  • Confident working at heights and in the underground network.
  • Can work as part of a team, outside in all weather conditions.
  • This is a physically demanding role therefore you will need to be physically fit enough to be able to carry out the manual handling requirements of the role.
