We are now recruiting for a Principal Bridge Engineer to join our Highways team in Birmingham to manage and be responsible for the delivery of technical outputs of projects or a project portfolio to the meet the client's brief within time and budget. To line manage more junior members of staff.

Key Responsibilities

The Principal Engineer will undertake services within an engineering environment which may include (but are not limited to); scheme investigation, site and structure inspections, data collection and analysis, feasibility studies, preliminary and detailed design, preparation of tender documents, works/construction inspection and supervision to progress scheme design, development and construction. Carrying out the checking and certifying of design deliverables (including drawings specifications, professional skill and care certificates, reports and contract documents), and authorising where appropriate.

What do we need from you?

  • A degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline
  • Chartered / incorporated member of a relevant professional institution (MICE/MIStructE or equivalent)
  • Valid UK driving license
  • In-depth experience in inspection, assessment, design and construction of highway structures to UK standards
  • Knowledge and experience of the main management systems & processes used within a similar business
  • Experience of using relevant software
