Summary

Due to company growth we are expanding our Group Technical Department and are looking for an individual with experience working in a successful BIM environment who has a thorough knowledge of the Autodesk Suite to join the team and have sole responsibility for the BIM implementation here at Gleeson.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assess the needs of the business in order to ensure that BIM is implemented in a way that achieves maximum value and impact to Gleeson by collaborating with key internal stakeholders.
  • Manage external consultants and their production of high quality, coordinated 3D information; host meetings and workshops as required, ensure the information is provided on time and in the appropriate format.
  • Manage the implementation process, be able to self-assign deadlines and assess critical paths to achieve the design program set by the Group Technical Manager.
  • Track, report and present progress to internal colleagues and seniors.
  • Maintain the standard house type portfolio in the BIM environment; carry out data validation, quality checks and clash detection.
  • Assess supplier and subcontractor readiness for producing 3D information that can be integrated into our core models.
  • Produce the standard process and procedures needed to efficiently manage 3D information for the future, in line with/in addition to the BEP (BIM Execution Plan).
  • Advise and assist in the use and management of the CDE (Common Data Environment).
  • Review and audit third-party software, tools and innovations that may benefit the business.

Other Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintenance of commercial specifications / scope of works
  • Act upon commercial implications relating to planning and architectural design, civil and structural engineering design.
  • Appoint and manage external consultants for design work.
  • Assist in achieving and maintaining Type approval with NHBC, LABC & SBD.
  • Interact with internal departments, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors as required.
  • Assist with the implementation of group procedures.
  • Provide technical support and solutions to regional businesses and/or live sites that are in the construction stage.
  • Approve Sales and Marketing literature/CGIs.
  • During the development process receive constructive feedback from the build and sales departments and effectively implement amendments.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to the Technical Assistant / Apprentice(s)

Ideal Candidate

  • Thorough knowledge of the Autodesk Suite (Revit, CAD & Navisworks).
  • Solid experience working in a successful BIM environment, ideally from an early stage.
  • The role requires good knowledge of building/construction ideally attained through an architectural or engineering background (preferably both).
  • Knowledge of the housebuilding industry is beneficial, alternatively main contractor experience is valued.
  • Educated to HNC/HND level minimum in a construction related qualification.
  • Be a good communicator that thrives working in a small, dynamic team.
