Location: Flexible working available, where you will be based out of our Sheffield office 2-3 days per week, with home working available

Business Area: Kier Places - Housing Maintenance - Decarbonisation in Social Housing

Contract & hours: Permanent, full time, Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week


Kier Places are recruiting now for a Bid Writer to join our Housing Maintenance team in Sheffield, to contribute to the planned and sustained business growth of Kier Places by creating compelling, quality content for submissions, and proactively support subject matter experts in the bidding process including guidance on writing and content focusing on Decarbonisation & Retrofitting. Because of the nature of our clients & business in Kier Places, there may be opportunities to collaborate on Facilities Management bids & tenders.


Key Responsibilities

As a trusted Bid Writer with Kier Housing Maintenance, you'll be responsible for creating overall compelling & engaging content resulting in high scoring submissions aligned with Kier positioning / pitch; write quality bid responses for tenders, pre-qualifications & general bid submissions; re-work & develop pre-written templates as bespoke content; re-work proposal responses from a variety of internal stakeholders & colleagues, such as operations, commercial, legal & HR; and deliver completed proposal responses to agreed deadlines.

Due to the nature of this role & industry, you'll need to understand and apply public procurement legislation and other relevant policies to written responses.

Working collaboratively with your direct team & the wider business, you'll provide advice and guidance to colleagues with potential clients; support subject matter experts & wider bid team input in bidding process; lead & coordinate storyboard sessions to develop tailored content & responses to PQQs; assist in the innovation of sharing & presenting information; and apply client bid feedback to future responses to drive continuous improvement.


What do we need from you?

What does it take to be a Bid Writer with Kier? We're looking for someone with a professional writing background, degree related to English Language, or bid writing/management experience; the ability to work under pressure to tight, defined deadlines; the ability to communicate & influence at senior stakeholder levels; and the ability to work effectively on an individual basis, in a tight knight team, and collaboratively as part of the wider business.

To make the most of this role, you should have advanced MS Word & Office skills, and be proficient in desktop publishing & design software such as Adobe InDesign.

With a passion and understanding for sustainability, the environment & social value, you should also have an understanding of funding applications for decarbonisation in social housing.
