Pre-construction Design Manager

Location: Flexible working available, where you working on sites in London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham and working with our team based out of our Basingstoke office. Home working available with travel to London & Basginstoke sites/offices 2-3 days a week.

Kier Places are recruiting for an experienced Design Manager to join our passionate Capital Projects Preconstruction team, working on projects in the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham, who also our client. With our diverse portfolio of projects, we are looking for an individual who has a passion for the project at hand, and securing work, whilst also being able to work as part of a closely knit team that has the opportunity to develop and control its own destiny. Key Responsibilities

As a Design Manager your role will be key to managing and coordinating the design at either pre-construction stage and / or construction stage of multiple projects.

You will be expected to lead internal and external design resources to ensure that design information is produced in a proper and timely manner; risks are identified, managed and appropriately apportioned; all designs by subcontractors and subconsultants are completed in a timely and co-ordinated manner, whilst also managing relationships with the Client and the appointed professional team.

What do we need from you?

As a Design Manager collaborative working with all external and internal stakeholders will be crucial, and successful applicants will need to demonstrate a sound general construction knowledge.

You will have experience motivating and encouraging internal and external design teams and multi-disciplinary design teams; be able to ensure drawings and designs are produced on time to a high quality, are easy to decipher, whilst overseeing the design process using technical expertise; and have a thorough understanding of the RIBA Stages of Design.

Who are we?

The Capital Projects Team have a pipeline of opportunities to deliver recladding, refurbishment & decarbonisation projects to residential buildings across the M4 corridor & in London. You will be working on a portfolio of projects predominantly involving the recladding of high-rise buildings, with typical project values between £2M and £9M, and of a construction nature. You will be joining a newly formed team specialising in this new workstream which has huge long-term growth opportunity, in which successful applicants will have a huge opportunity to grow and develop as this new workstream evolves.
