Sustainability & Energy Efficiency Project Manager
Location: Mobile / remote role, with frequent travel across Midlands, Home Counties, London & South England, including London, Cornwall, Kent & Norfolk - with ad-hoc visits to Basingstoke office
Business area: Kier Places - Facilities Management - Projects Team - Ministry of Justice, Home Office & Government Property Agency contracts
Contract: Permanent, full time - Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
Kier Places are recruiting now for a Sustainability & Energy Efficiency Project Manager to join our Facilities Management Projects team on our Ministry of Justice (MoJ), Home Office & Government Property Agency (GPA) contracts, to lead on innovation and improvements in energy efficiency & sustainable solutions throughout our client's portfolio of properties & assets, including pre-1900 listed buildings, offices & commercial buildings, and high security infrastructure locations.
This role is key to the ongoing and future service across a major account, where you'll primarily carry out surveys & audits, make recommendations on improvements, and oversee projects to completion.
The key clients that this role will support includes Ministry of Justice, Home Office and the Government Property Agency, and the contract currently covers the South of the UK, with some work in the Midlands & East Anglia, with over 400 buildings of varying age & size.
Key Responsibilities
As a Sustainability & Energy Efficiency Project Manager, you will be trusted to provide our clients with a complex overview of their estates condition, as well as detail of what is required to improve efficiencies and reduce carbon footprints. This will include onsite surveys to capture thermal efficiencies, energy efficiency surveys, and asset condition surveys. You'll then provide initial feasibility studies, ensuring innovations & improvements are considered before progressing to tender, where the final associated reports will include proposed efficiency improvements and payback timeframes.
The role will predominantly concentrate on energy efficiencies, with projects values between £10k to £500k, such as boilers system updates, ground source heat pumps, solar and BMS (build management systems) upgrades - however, there will be a requirement to support general project delivery within a team environment. This will include the management of large, complex, and high value projects, ensuring resources are controlled, and the outputs defined in the project outline are delivered within time, budget and defined quality parameters.
What do we need from you?
To be a Sustainability & Energy Efficiency Project Manager with Kier FM, you will have a background in a project management role within a facilities management / facilities refurbishment type environment, with a high level of education in a relevant sustainability / carbon reduction /energy efficiency subject, including environmental sciences, environmental management, engineering, or sustainability.
To make the most of this role, you should also hold a SMSTS, IOSH Managing Safety and/or NEBOSH qualifications; knowledge / experience of CDM (Construction Design & Management Regulations); and NEC3 contracts experience or knowledge will be advantageous.
Due to the nature of the role, you should have a full driving licence, be happy travelling across the country to a variety of locations, and be happy staying away from home overnight when required.
