Technical Director - Velstar

Velstar were founded in 2016 and have been scaling direct-to-consumer brands ever since. We've made a mark in the Shopify world, but involve ourselves beyond just building ecommerce stores. As growth marketers, we also challenge what drives traffic to them-and turn that traffic into golden, long-term customers.

The role - Overarching responsibility

Hybrid role overseeing and managing the technical direction of our US portfolio, including supporting the commercial and development teams as well as technical support for our sister company, a fast-growing Miami based ecommerce brand.

Requirements for the role:

  • Multiple years prior experience in presales solutions engineering or consulting
  • Deep understanding of technology strategy as it relates to operating and growing commerce businesses
  • 3+ years of experience with Shopify specifically and low-level capabilities &
  • Solid understanding of Cloud-based technologies and SaaS fundamentals
  • Previous hands-on skills in Web development (HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Liquid, PHP, etc)
  • Be able to break down and segregate solutions (a background implementing SOA-based services is desirable)
  • Have experience in Agile application development, commercial off-the-shelf software, application programming interfaces (APIs), middleware, servers and storage, and database
  • Work with diverse technologies like; Shopify, Laravel, Azure & AWS, Salesforce, SAP, Netsuite, Celigo, Boomi
  • Great troubleshooting and analytical skills combined with the desire to tackle challenges head-on
  • A powerful video conference presence with confidence in handling executive-level conversations

You'll be working on:

  • Working to help qualify and close deals from a technical requirements perspective for the Sales team and development partners/agencies
  • Engaging with enterprise clients through requirements discovery and strategic consulting sessions
  • Creating customized product demos and proof of concepts for use during on-site or virtual client demonstrations
  • Working with our sister company's CTO, advising and assisting with the technical strategy to ensure stable and fast growth.
  • Continually learning specifically on Shopify's application ecosystem and integrations
  • Mentoring and coaching the sales team on technical aspects of Shopify Plus

Bonus experience:

  • ECommerce experience and knowledge of latest trends (storefront implementation, omni-channel, supply chain, B2B)
  • Familiarity with version control and project management systems (e.g., Github, Jira)
