The Opportunity:
Laing O'Rourke is seeking a Finance Manager who will be seconded into the Explore Transport Ltd Joint Venture acting as the Financial Controller.
This role is to effectively and efficiently ensure all financial control responsibilities within Explore's business are met and in addition to manage the finance team with regard to performance, measured outcomes and service efficiency.
The role will report daily to the Finance Director of the Explore Transport Ltd business along with a LOR responsibility to report the financials as part of the Specialist Trading Business Group (STBG), reporting to the Finance Leader - Specialist Trading Business Group within LOR.
What will the role look like?
- Day-to-day management of the Explore Transport Finance team
- Management of all financial processes
- Manage monthly accounting and reporting, ensuring they comply with accountancy standards
- Prepare annual budgets and quarterly forecasts
- Ensure all necessary information is provided to ABL funders and other lenders
- Presentation of all financial results to the Finance Director
- Interface with operational departments and Joint Venture shareholders as necessary on day-to day matters
- Responsibility for all tax and compliance matters
- Improvement of processes and systems and management of any new system implementations
- Preparation of statutory accounts and submission of HMRC returns
What skills & experience are we looking for?
- Qualified Accountant with significant post qualification experience
- Experience of managing a finance team
- Strong financial and management accounts knowledge and experience
- Excellent business partnering skills
- Strong communication and influencing skills. An ability to communicate effectively at all levels, building and maintaining good working relationships
- Attention to detail and an understanding of the holistic processes and systems
- Committed, enthusiastic, resilient and collaborative
