Urban Designer job in Romsey, Hampshire

We are currently working with a well-established Architectural and planning practice who have a Urban Designer job now available in its Hampshire office.

The practice was established over 40 years ago and had developed into a business of over 50 people across 3 offices.
The company is focusing on residential and retirement living projects supplying planning, design and technical services.
Due to the current project pipeline, they are looking to speak with Urban Designers at all levels of experience.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Work on projects from the initial concept to delivery
  • Contribute to the design process through creative thinking and concept development
  • Working on planning applications of housing led developments
  • Working on masterplan drawing design strategies and to detailed illustrations to support design principles
  • Support the production of comprehensive design and access statements
  • Day to day running of jobs including liaising with colleagues and managing junior members of teams.

Required Skills & Experience

  • A qualification in Urban Design
  • A minimum of 2 years post qualification experience
  • Experience of working on UK residential projects
  • Ability to conduct site, context and character appraisals and analysis to inform the design team
  • Production of masterplan drawings, design strategies and illustrations to support design principles
  • Good attention to detail and the ability to see the bigger picture
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and Sketchup
  • Ability to work in a team or independently when required.
