Systems Accountant
Breedon are currently seeking a Systems Accountant to join our team based in Lockington, near Derby. The role will provide system administration of key business systems including Sun Systems (Finance system), Cognos (Group consolidation, planning and reporting system) and FinDocs (Procurement system), under the leadership of the Finance Systems Manager.
KEY OBJECTIVES OF THE ROLE:
- Day to day system administration, including:
- Maintaining Charts of Accounts and Analysis Codes
- Managing Access controls
- Diagnostics and resolution of errors in data transfers between systems
- Providing front facing support for business users - initial port of call for systems queries, participating in working groups (etc).
- Undertaking audits of processes and controls in line with group policy and implementing new/improved control points where required and as agreed with Finance Systems Manager
- Supporting projects that form part of the Continuous Improvements programme for all Finance systems
- Liaising with third party providers and with internal teams (e.g., IT, Accounts Payable) to bring systems issues / queries to a speedy resolution
- Providing/facilitating systems training for new users and support the Finance community in the ongoing training of all users
- Supporting the review and updating of business process documentation (systems usage) and creation of new/improved documentation where required
- Bringing best practice to the fore and making recommendations on how to get the best out of the Finance and related systems
- Escalating key risks and issues and take (or assign) ownership of their resolution in agreement with the Finance Systems Manager
- Communicating out to appropriate user groups where system incidents, planned downtime, changes to systems (etc). will impact them
- Other duties as requested by line manager
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE:
- Qualified or part qualified Accountant with experience of managing systems
- Experience of working with internal and external stakeholders in a large business
- Management of data relationships, definitions, and the resolution of data integrity issues
- Supporting the setup of new business processes and embedding them into business as usual
- Experience of systems implementations an advantage
- Finance system experience - SunSystems, Cognos and Findocs experience is desirable, however, training will be provided if other (comparable) systems have been used
- Project Management and/or Continuous Improvement experience i.e. Lean
- Customer services and/or help desk experience
