Location: Centenary House, Basingstoke
Business Area: Kier Places - Facilities Management - Public Sector & Government contracts
Contract & hours: Permanent, full time- Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
Kier Places are recruiting now for a Quantity Surveyor to join our Facilities Management Projects team in Basingstoke, on our Ministry of Justice (MoJ), Home Office & Government Property Agency (GPA) contracts, to increase value, reduce cost, drive profit, and manage risk in a safe and ethical manner for these accounts.
The key clients that this role will support includes Ministry of Justice, Home Office and the Government Property Agency, and the contract currently covers the South of the UK, with some work in the Midlands & East Anglia, with a portfolio of over 400 buildings of varying age & size including pre-1900 listed buildings, offices & commercial buildings, and high security infrastructure locations.
Key Responsibilities
As a Quantity Surveyor with Kier FM, you'll be responsible for producing accurate estimates of values between £110k - £1m; manage enquiries and disputes for invoicing, billing process, valuations, tenders; produce monthly contract valuations for the larger jobs; own project profitability directly & through direct line reports; be proactive in setting tough but fair profitability targets; and play a pivotal role in the handover of the tender.
The nature of these works are of an M&E refurbishment & construction nature, commonly including security access systems, building fabric, electrical rewiring, boiler & heating systems, plant room & building management systems (BMS), room & building refurbishment or fit-outs, energy efficiency & sustainability technology, and anything else relating to the repair, maintenance or refurbishment of government buildings.
What do we need from you?
Is this your opportunity for the taking? To join us as a Quantity Surveyor on our MoJ, GPA & Home Office account, you will have extensive quantity surveying experience; experience relating to M&E building services on refurbishment & fit-out projects; knowledge of & experience using National Schedule of Rates - NEC3 experience would also be beneficial; full confidence in accuracy of estimates / tenders produced; and the ability to manage & mentor junior colleagues and the administration team.
