We're looking for an IT Support Technician to join our National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED) contract. Within this role we will provide you with a company van for travel. You can enjoy progression opportunities and the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects of all sizes and complexities

Location: Can be based at any of our National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED) depots which are listed on this vacancy. Remote working available along with regular travel across the various sites on the contract- company van provided for the travel

Contract: Permanent, full time

Responsibilities

Kier Utilities brings the built environment to life, keeping people and businesses connected.

In this role, you will be working on our National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED), where we work on maintaining, repairing, and upgrading the electricity distribution network.

Across all areas, we have rolled out a new electronic Works Management System so in this role as IT Support Technician, you will be a key member in driving the use of the system. You will utilise various outputs, provide support to office and site-based teams to ensure they are fully trained in the use of the system either on the web versions for office staff or on their mobile device for the site teams. This role will include travel and over night stays.

Your day to day will include:


  • Taking calls from Managers, Supervisors & Teams regarding issues with mobile devices and systems and provide support/ advice to solve remotely if possible or in person
  • Ordering and maintaining a backup stock of mobile devices ready for temporary or permanent replacement
  • Keeping overall record of every issue reported, actions taken to resolve, what devices are in use and by whom, when replacements or repairs are required, and identifying any damage
The role will require travelling across the National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED), which ranges from the Midlands to Cornwall, so overnight stays will sometimes be required and flexibility on this is a must.
