Herts Resourcing Group is recruiting for a Functional Skills English Lecturer, on an ongoing temporary basis throughout the academic year.
This role is offering variable hours per week, offering between £19.74 and £21.42 per hour and you will be based in Broxbourne.
About the role
You will be required to deliver Functional Skills English to students at Entry Level 3 and Level 1, including Vocational Qualifications on courses planned to re-engage Year 10 and 11 (14-16's) in an FE environment, to enable young people to make choices about Vocational and Employment pathways.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure the full implementation of course review, evaluation and development, and other quality assurance processes as required by College policy
- Set and monitor targets for student recruitment, enrolment, attendance, punctuality, retention and achievement and report to curriculum team leader
- Work pro-actively to secure constant quality improvement and student completion and achievement of the highest possible standards.
- Maintain high levels of pastoral support to all learners as appropriate, including day-to-day management of student discipline, student attendance and liaison with parents, guardians, employers and schools.
- Undertake the role of personal tutor to groups of learners.
- Undertake entry phase activities such as the interviewing, assessment, selection and induction of students.
- Play a full role in the maintenance of student discipline, operation of the College's student disciplinary policy, and the maintenance of high standards of campus life generally.
Personal specification:
- Teacher training qualification such as a PGCE or DTLLS
- GCSEs C or above in Maths and English (or equivalent)
- Proven teaching experience in subject specialism English or Maths in an FE environment.
