Fire Safety Operative / Fire Stopping Operative - Carpentry bias
Location: Mobile across London with office base location of Loughton
Business Area: Kier Places - Housing Maintenance - Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) Works
Contract: Permanent, full time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Kier Places are recruiting today for a Fire Safety Operative with Carpentry/Joinery bias, where your role will be key to supporting the delivery of a Housing Maintenance Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) works servicing solution for our prestigious client, One Housing Group. You will be providing planned & reactive maintenance in social housing residential properties managed by the housing association to ensure properties meet all Kier, client & government statutory requirements and regulations to the highest of standards.
Key Responsibilities
As a Fire Safety Operative, you will be responsible for undertaking all manner of installation, maintenance & repair work in domestic properties, to a high level "right first time" basis in a cost-effective manner. Fire stopping works include, and are not limited to, installation, maintenance & repair of: fire batt & mastic, firestop putty pads, fire & smoke curtains, firestop compound, fire penetration sealing, fire partitioning & compartmentation, fire doors & other building fabric, pipes, linear joints and openings.
Within the fire stopping works, you'll be expected to undertake making-good works to leave the residences in a condition of the highest standard, which will include general 'handyperson' tasks such plaster patching, plumbing, and other minor repairs & maintenance within your ability.
What do we need from you?
The successful Fire Stopping Operative candidate will possess a Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in Carpentry or Joinery, with cross trade flexibility with works of a plumbing, electrical, drainage, groundwork, glazing, plastering, bricklaying, painting and decorating nature.
You'll bring with you a wealth of experience covering the variety of building maintenance & repair work to effectively conduct these works, and you should have experience in a similar role on social housing / housing maintenance / property maintenance contracts. It would be an advantage in this role if you have BM Trada, Asbestos Awareness or other fire stopping & safety related certificates, and an appropriate CSCS card.
Due to the nature of this position, you should have a full driving licence, and be happy travelling across the region to different sites.
