A vacancy has arisen for an Assistant Management Accountant to join a highly skilled and professional Group finance team, reporting to the Senior Group Accountant. They will be responsible for accurate and timely management reporting, operating as part of a team in a plc environment that will allow them to grow and develop their skills, including study support towards a professional accounting qualification.

Main Responsibilities

  • Preparation and reporting of monthly management accounts
  • Assisting with monthly forecasting and annual budgeting
  • Responsibility for accounting controls including monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Understanding variances between reported, forecast and budgeted results
  • Preparation of monthly commentary and reporting to the CFO
  • Assisting the Group Tax Manager with preparation of VAT returns
  • Providing finance support to the business
  • Responding to and liaising with external auditors
  • Ad hoc analysis for the Finance Director, Head of Financial Reporting and CFO

Ideal Candidate

  • Best suited to an ambitious and driven individual who wants to learn and develop their skills in a plc environment.
  • Practical experience of monthly management accounts, ideally suited to either a part-qualified accountant (e.g. CIMA / ACCA / AAT) or experienced management accountant.
  • A confident IT user with strong Excel skills and an ability to pick up new IT systems quickly.
  • High attention to detail, self-review and desire to achieve highest levels of quality at all times.
  • A team player with strong communication skills and a 'can-do' attitude.
  • Experience of working to tight timescales, in particular month end reporting in a larger business or plc environment, would be advantageous.
