Design Manager Job in Somerset

New requirement for a Design Manager job with a commercial design and build firm. The ideal candidate will be proficient in Revit with experience working to BIM Level 2 standards, and able to lead a team of designers with a strong commercial and strategic approach. In return, the role has a salary range of up to £60,000, bonus potential, enhanced annual leave, and more!

Established over two decades ago, our client has a strong portfolio of work across workplace, retail, hospitality, and public/government projects. They have a number of key accounts with reputable firms across the UK, providing a steady flow of projects, combined with a growing number of new business projects across the sectors they operate in. With 65 members of staff, the business is well positioned to provide turnkey services to its clients. The current vacancy will play a pivotal role in overseeing a small team of technical designers, motivating and leading them to drive performance and innovation.

Role & Responsibilities

  • To lead and manage a team of technical designers
  • Liaise with stakeholders to understand and formulate plans to allocate resources against projects
  • Creation of Revit families against project needs
  • Set and manage deliverables and expectations of the team
  • Create and monitor development plans
  • Oversee and ensure accuracy of work, maintaining in-house and ISO19650 standards
  • Work with HR and senior management on strategic plans and development of the team.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in commercial design (workplace or retail)
  • Prior experience managing a team
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD
  • Ability to use 3D modelling software, SketchUp or similar, is desirable
  • Experience as a BIM Manager or BIM Coordinator is highly desirable
  • Ideally, degree qualified in Interior Design, Architecture, or similar.
