We're looking for a Senior Design Engineer to join our Highways team based in Bristol where you will where you will provide technical support on various Highway design contracts within Kier Design & Technology Services. Current contracts include Local Authority Highway Works, National Highways Area & Regional Contracts particularly Major Projects A66 NTP and M6 Emergency Laybys. Within this role, you can enjoy. Salary: £42K-50K

Responsibilities

As Senior Design Engineer you will provide design support to the Highways Team Leader, Design Manager and highways design team overseeing the preparation of technical drawings, specifications and other design deliverables. Reviewing work of other professional staff and may direct a team and/or a unique element of a project.

Your day to day will include:
  • Maintain good relations with design teams, the Client and other authorities, attending meetings as necessary
  • Preparation of fee estimates, design programmes, tender and contract documents. Making a positive contribution towards bids and project proposals making suggestions for new areas of work
  • Accountable for own budgetary, quality, safety and time frame targets for projects and will identify and agree any additional work with the Project Manager or client, as appropriate
Who are we looking for?

This role of a Senior Design Engineer is great for you if you have:
  • Chartered member accreditation or working towards
  • Experience in overseeing and mentoring junior members of staff and liaise with a variety of stakeholders
  • Experience in the design of UK local authority/ National Highways schemes
