What is Crown House Technologies?

Crown House Technologies (CHtM) is Laing O'Rourke's internal off-site manufacturing business unit, managing all the works of steelwork fabrications, pipework fabrications, mechanical and electrical services modules and volumetric products for the wider business. The project co-ordination team are responsible for project management through The Crown House Technologies facility, involving technical review of models supporting the DfMA team, working to a programme to issue drawings to production and ensuring timely delivery of materials to suit production requirements.

What will the role look like?

You will be working closely with Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) teams in the pre-production phase to assist with early stage technical and planning information. You will also be chairing and arranging meetings with internal production teams and external project teams, responding to technical queries as required and upscaling any issues in a timely basis. Managing a project through all adjoining functions, DfMA, CHtM estimating, CHtM planning, CHtM production and CHtM commercial teams will also be a key part of the role. The ideal candidate will also have previous experience within the manufacturing/construction industry along with previous Project management experience.

What technical capabilities are required?

  • Ability to review technical drawings
  • Ability to follow and review a construction/manufacturing programme.
  • Mechanical and Electrical building services knowledge
  • Off-Site manufacturing techniques and products
  • Microsoft packages including Excel, Teams and Outlook.
  • Engineering processes and awareness of Quality standards.

What key skills are required?

  • Project management skills
  • Commercial awareness
  • Strong organisation skills and applying due diligence to all tasks
  • Previous use of SAP enterprise software
  • Awareness of Kaizen and lean manufacturing techniques

What qualifications are required?

  • Recognised qualification in mechanical and electrical building services
  • Recognised qualification in manufacturing engineering
  • Lean manufacturing training
