Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer (Plumbing Bias)
Location: Mobile - covering sites across East Anglia including Ipswich, Norwich and Colchester
Business Area: Kier Places - Facilities Management - Ministry of Justice
Contract: Permanent, full time - 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8-5pm + callout rota 1 in 5 weeks for out of hours & weekends
Kier Places are recruiting now for a Mobile Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer (Plumbing Bias) to join our Facilities Management team on our Ministry of Justice contract, where your role will be key to supporting the delivery across a Hard Technical Services solution, through providing planned PPM & reactive maintenance to government owned properties as part of our prestigious public sector contract, across multiple sites in the East Anglian area.
Key Responsibilities
As a focused and reactive Mobile Multi Skilled Engineer, you will deliver a combination of electrical Planned & Reactive maintenance with some assistance with basic mechanical, water and building fabric maintenance across a region, and to multiple client sites including Approved Premises & Probation Offices. You will be assisting in ensuring Kier deliver a safe, customer focused, cost effective, efficient and compliant service in order to meet its contractual and legal obligations.
Whilst plumbing biased, this role is multi-skilled and encompasses various PPM tasks including, but not limited to emergency light testing, monthly water temperatures recording, meter readings, AC filter changes and other general maintenance works within your abilities such as minor fabric, electric & plumbing repairs.
Electrical activities will include minor lighting and power installation works, re-lamping of fittings and general repair, socket replacement, and other repairs or installations; carrying out electrical tests such as annual emergency light testing, DB and RCD checks, testing and certification of all works in accordance with NICEIC regulations.
You should also be comfortable working on ladders, in tight spaces, and in plant rooms; working alone or in a team; and be comfortable moving/transporting tooling & access equipment of all sizes & weights.
What do we need from you?
We're looking for a proactive Engineer who is a Qualified in Plumbing, Heating, or Mechanical Engineering (e.g. Level 2 NVQ/City & Guilds, 6035, 6188, 6189, 8202 or equivalent); has fault finding and reactive repairs experience, who is able to conduct first line response of mechanical, heating & plumbing equipment, and has the ability to conduct a variety of building & facilities maintenance tasks, including, but not limited to, electrics & lighting, water & plumbing, HVAC, AHUs & compressors.
To be a Multi-Skilled Engineer with Kier, you'll bring with you previous experience in commercial building services / facilities management; and as a bonus, you may have PASMA, Working At Height, IPAF certification, and L8 Legionella awareness.
It would be highly desirable if you also have Level 3 Plumbing and Heating qualification; basic heating background (e.g. Gas Safe, Commercial or Domestic Gas tickets); Water Regulations & Unvented Hot Water Systems (3345); Pool Plant operators Course; and/or Electrical qualifications.
Due to the nature of this position you should have a full driving licence, be happy travelling across counties to different sites, and be able to participate in the on-call rota system covering out of hours and weekends.
