Community Engagement and Social Value Advisor
Location - Milton Keynes
Permanent - Full time, hybrid working available (with some flexibility required)

What is the opportunity?
We have an exciting opportunity to join our a newly awarded project based in Milton Keynes. This is a great opportunity to be part of the Laing O'Rourke team which has been appointed to deliver the highway infrastructure that will support a new 5,000-home neighbourhood.
What are the key deliverables?
- Managing the delivery of the Social Value and engagement strategies and develop plans ensuring we meet all objectives
- Managing stakeholders, using effective communications and build relationships with delivery partners, site teams and supply chain
- Collaborative working with procurement to ensure the targets are communicated effectively through the supply chain
- Monitoring and evaluation of all social value delivery ensuring we are tracking all outcomes
- Work collaboratively with the client team and local stakeholders to satisfy community engagement requirements
- Proactively build relationships with client community engagement representatives
- Manage all communication with the community and work closely with the client's communication teams, supporting their efforts to identify and publish a steady flow of positive progress
- Monitor social media mentions relating to the project and alert the company's central corporate affairs team where issues may require some escalation or management
What are the key skills needed?
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Team player and relationship manager across multiple stakeholders with a strong work ethic
- Able to project manage the delivery of social value KPI's working with partners to ensure a long term, outcome focussed approach
- The ability to identify key stakeholders and partners to aid KPI delivery.
- Confidence to chair and present at social value steering group meetings.
- A good understanding of social value within private, public and 3rd sector within the Milton Keynes region, linked to education, employment and community regeneration.
- Experience in community engagement for major construction projects and liaison with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
- Forward planning, organised, getting things right first-time
- Strong time-management skills and the ability to prioritise
- Personable and effective communicator at all levels
- Problem solving and analytical skills
What qualifications do i need?
- Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft packages, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- A good knowledge of broader communications best practice is required
- Further education in PR or related discipline and/or equivalent professional experience would be advantageous but not essential
