We're looking for a Project Manager to join our Regional Build team working on HMP Glasgow!

Location: HMP Glasgow, Scotland

Contract: Permanent, full time, Monday to Friday

Kier have been awarded a PCSA contract to develop the design for HMP Glasgow, which is a replacement for the existing adult male establishment at HMP Barlinnie. The project will deliver a new, modern prison that provides secure custody, safe and ordered prison regimes, high standards of decency and care, alongside opportunities for prisoners to develop in a way that helps them reintegrate on return to society on their release.?

The new prison is to accommodate spaces for 1,200 persons along with associated support facilities and regimes with an emphasis on rehabilitation through a focus on health and wellbeing. In developing the design we will explore options for delivering net zero carbon and embrace smart building technologies and automated processes to support the operation of the new facility.

The Project Manager will be part of the project team working throughout the pre construction phase before moving onto delivery. The P.M will be responsible for overseeing the House Block element of the project comprising 5 multi storey, RC Concrete buildings designed to house inmates in a safe and comfortable environment. HMP Glasgow will be leading the in Utilising Dfma (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly) methodology to design and construct an efficient and sustainable building, future proofing the campus for decades to come, the Project Manager will be heavily involved in working closely with our design teams, procurement teams, clients and sub contractor partners in a key role.

Responsibilities

As a Project Manager working on the HMP Glasgow project, Your day to day will include:

  • Managing all operational aspects of the project's lifecycle.

  • Managing the project to ensure all contractual requirements are met.

  • Lead / Manage on and appropriately allocate resources to achieve the outcome required.

  • Actively engage in all reporting and ensure detailed / high quality records are kept.

  • Consider the benefits of engaging other parts of Kier Group to enhance value for clients.

  • Support all internal governance stages.

Who are we looking for?

  • Demonstrable experience in the delivery of high value new build projects

  • Understanding / experience of MMC / DFMA construction Methods

  • Demonstrate experience working under NEC contract conditions on major build schemes

  • HNC/HND or above in a Construction Management or Engineering Discipline

  • Prior experience in the construction of custodial projects would be beneficial

  • Excellent IT skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication and influencing skills
